Changing or removing a domain

April 15, 2026

How to move a channel to a new domain or fall back to the default omnicon.cloud URL.

Custom domains can be changed or cleared from the channel settings page at any time.

Switching to a new domain

  1. Enter the new domain in the Custom domain field and save. The domain is stored as unverified, and the old domain stops routing to this channel.
  2. Add the TXT and CNAME records for the new domain (see DNS setup).
  3. Click Verify domain.

Removing a domain

Clear the field and save. The channel goes back to serving at its default /en/c/<channelPermaName> URL.

Moving a domain between channels

A domain can only be attached to one channel at a time (there's a unique index on the column). To move it:

  1. Clear the domain on the old channel and save.
  2. Set it on the new channel and re-verify. The TXT value is tied to the channel ID, so you'll need to update the TXT record to match.

What happens to old links

Links under the removed domain stop resolving to the channel immediately (after the 5-minute cache expires). If SEO matters, set up a redirect at your DNS or CDN layer before clearing the domain.
