Quota, orphans, and cleanup

April 15, 2026

Keep channel storage lean — check quota, find unreferenced files, and delete safely.

Every channel has a storage quota. The Library view shows current usage, and /storage/api/quota returns the same data as JSON for dashboards.

Orphan report

The Orphans page lists files not referenced by any article, page, book, or press release. You can filter by minimum age (default 30 days) to avoid flagging recent uploads that haven't been attached yet.

Use it to reclaim space safely — orphaned files can be bulk-deleted from this view without breaking live content.

Delete vs. force delete

  • Delete — blocks if the file is referenced anywhere. The error points you at the usage list.
  • Force delete — bypasses the reference check. Use only when you know the references are stale (for example, the referencing article is already gone).

Before deleting

Open the file's Usage panel first. If it's attached to a published article, swap in a replacement and republish before removing the original.
