OmniCon 2.0.314 — Press releases you can trust to send, the groundwork for OmniCon media bundles, and drafts
October 21, 2026
Five versions on from 2.0.309. This release rebuilds how press releases are sent, lays the groundwork for media bundles (curated groups of journalists you can send to without managing a list yourself), and adds something many of you have asked for: saving an article or page as a draft without publishing it.
Three things stand out: press releases that go out properly, media bundles in your plan, and drafts.
Press releases that go out properly
Sending a press release used to mail every contact inside a single web request. A long list could time out partway through, and every email went out under OmniCon’s name. That is fixed.
- Sent in the background. Pressing Send now queues the release, and it goes out in batches with automatic retries. A large list no longer times out halfway.
- Under your name. Each email comes from your organization, and replies go to your organization’s email address. The footer carries your postal address, as anti-spam rules expect, so sending stays off until your organization has both an email address and a postal address set.
- Unsubscribe built in. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. Someone who opts out of your releases is never mailed by your organization again.
- One email per person. If the same contact appears on several of the lists you pick, they still get the release only once.
- A history you can read.
Press → Historyshows each release and where every recipient stands: queued, sent, failed or skipped.
Media bundles, included in your plan
Your own press contacts and lists stay free on every plan. Alongside them, OmniCon is building a shared media directory: journalists and newsrooms grouped into bundles by beat, which you pick when you send.
- Included, not metered. Basic includes one bundle release a month, to one bundle. Premium includes four a month, each to up to three bundles. Free does not include bundles.
- You never handle the addresses. A bundle shows who it reaches (outlets, beats and size) but not anyone’s email. We send on your behalf, under your name.
- Built to stay welcome. Every journalist in the directory is told they are listed and can opt out at any time. Nobody receives more than two bundle releases a week, and an organization’s first bundle release is read by a person before it goes out.
- Coming first: US Tech & SaaS. The first bundle covers national tech desks and enterprise and SaaS trade press. Every contact comes from an address the outlet or journalist publishes for this purpose. We will say here when it opens.
Drafts
- Save without publishing. Articles and pages now have a
Save as draftbutton. A draft of a live article sits alongside it, and the public page, the API, MCP, search and the sitemap keep showing the published version until you publish the draft.Savestill publishes straight away, as before. - Drafts that start as drafts. An article that has never been published stays out of search and the API until you publish it, and its publish date is set when you do. A future date you chose is kept as a schedule.
Also in this release
- Editor images now live in Storage. Images you add in the article editor appear in your Storage list, count toward your plan’s storage, and get thumbnails like any other upload.
- Bug fix: images with the same name no longer replace each other. Adding an image called
photo.jpgto one article had been overwriting a differentphoto.jpgused in another. - Bug fix: deleting from Storage deletes the file. Deleting removed the entry from the list but left the file reachable at its public address. It now removes the file and its thumbnails too.
- Tighter press permissions. Press actions now check that the contact or list belongs to your organization, and contacts created over MCP are no longer filed under the wrong organization.
If you send press releases, the new sending is already live. Your next release will go out under your own name, with unsubscribe and a readable history. If you are on Basic or Premium and want early access to the US Tech & SaaS bundle, or there is a beat you would like a bundle for, drop us a note.
