Video generation is the highest-tier AI Studio feature. It takes longer and costs more than image generation, so it ships with tighter guardrails.
Two modes
- Video from text — describe the scene.
- Video from image — pick a still from the library and describe the motion or camera move you want applied to it.
Duration and aspect
Default duration is 5 seconds. Default aspect is 16:9; portrait 9:16 is supported for social. Short durations consume less quota and return faster — start with 5 seconds before pushing longer.
Budget cap
Each video call accepts an optional maxCostUsd. If the provider's quoted cost exceeds your cap, the generation is refused before any money is spent. Use it as a hard stop on experimental prompts.
Plan gating
Video is only available on the highest-tier plan. Lower tiers see the panel but get a "not available on your plan" error on submit. See Plan, quota, and cost.
